Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov advances

A big win for Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.

The 17-year-old from Richmond Hill upset World #19 Nick Kyrgios of Australia 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.

Shapovalov earned his first victory at an ATP Masters 1000 event. What a month it has been for the teenager as he is coming off the Junior Wimbledon Championship.

It was one of three wins on the day for Canadians at York University. Steven Diez and Peter Polansky while Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls lost. 4th seeded Milos Raonic got a first round bye and will play Wednesday.
