Hamilton is hosting the World Synchronized Skating Championships at the First Ontario Centre next month. Skaters will be competing from more than 20 different countries. CHCH reporter Brittany Gogo to a spin on the ice today with Burlingtons Nexxice Team, which will have home ice advantage and the event.
“To skate in your home country is like a dream come true. You are never going to feel that support anywhere else in the world – so it’s very special for our athletes” says Team Ambassador Jennifer Beauchamp-Crichton. She was the captain of the Nexxice team that won gold in the 2009 Championships. She’s competed in six World Championships and says this team has what it takes to bring home the gold. “They have got the athleticism the technical skill and the performance and they like to tell a story on the ice and bring their audience in and I think that’s going to set them apart in the end.”
25 teams from 20 different countries, including 2 from Canada, are competing on April 10th and 11th.
