The future of the Hamilton Bulldogs is up in the air.

There’s renewed speculation the Montreal Canadiens’ farm team could be moving, after ground-breaking ceremonies for a $200 million arena in the Montreal suburb of Laval. At the ceremony, the area’s Quebec MNA said the new arena would be able to accommodate the Bulldogs.

It’s believed the Habs may end their affiliation agreement with Hamilton when it expires at the end of the next season. Canadiens owner Geoff Molson has guaranteed a professional hockey team will be the anchor tenant at the Laval arena.

Bulldogs owner Michael Andlauer says the team will stay in Hamilton in one form or another.
