Christmas is less than a month away and sacks of letters from girls and boys are arriving at the North Pole.

Canada Post expects to receive more than a million letters this year from all over the world. And Santa’s elves are busy making sure those letters are delivered.

“Dear Santa. First, I don’t want you to get stuck in the chimney. Second, I tried to be nice to my family and friends and teacher.”

“Dear Santa. Have a safe drive.”

These little ones are busy writing letters to Santa.

“Can I please have an American girl doll for Christmas.”

“A phone, a Super Nerf gun, X-box One.”

But how do those letters and all those Christmas wishes get to the North Pole?

“Dear Santa. I would like a pack of stick gum. I love you so much.”

With help from his elves, like Holly T. Elf.

The North Pole post office is a busy place this time of year. With more than a million letters arriving from kids all across Canada and even around the world

“From Russia, Venezuela, Japan.”

When the letters arrive here at the North Pole post office, the elves sort them and place them into these special red mail bags and then they deliver them to Santa and Santa reads every letter himself in 30 different languages, including Braille.”

“He and Mrs. Claus read every one of them and write a reply and then he bundles them up and comes back here and we make sure they get sent back to the kids.”

Canada Post has been helping Santa with these letters for more than 30 years. It’s become a holiday tradition.

“We’ve got that first generation of kids that wrote those letters 35 years ago that their children are now writing letters.”

“This girl went and took a picture of herself beside all the toys that she wanted.”

And many making sure when Santa makes his list. And checks it twice. They’ve been nice.

“Fifteen times he opened the door for his mum dad and little sister.”

If you are planning to send a letter to Santa, you can address it to Santa Claus, North Pole, Canada HOH OHO. You don’t even need a stamp — but make sure you send it soon. Letters have to be mailed by December 16th to give Santa enough time to reply — it’s a long way to the North Pole and back!
