Baby panda twins need names

First Published:

A wild animal park in China has launched a public campaign to name its baby panda twins. The panda twins, born in Shanghai, turned one month old on Sunday.

The park is asking the public to submit suggested names for the cubs through social media. So far, the names Pudong and Puxi are in the lead. They are the names of Shanghai’s two city centers. Other popular names are Dudu and Nini, which mean “the first child” and “the second child” in the Shanghai dialect.

The animal park will announce the names of the twins ahead of the 2017 spring festival, which falls on January 28th.
