The estranged common-law husband of 29 year old Jessica Scanlon has been charged with her murder. The St. Catharines mother of 2 was found dead inside her home last month.

Jeremy Gough and Jessica Scanlon had lived in their Chetwood street home with their 2 young children for about year. She worked with special needs adults at a group home for community living in St. Catharines. Gough didn’t have a full time job, he was a special olympian who played on the special olympics baseball team, he also played for the CYO Heat, a special needs hockey team in St. Catharines.

Rick Jones has known Gough for more than 15 years. Jones says Gough was the kind of person who would go out of his way to help other people, the Jeremy Gough charged with killing Jessica Scanlon is not the person he knows, “since everybody’s been watching CHCH and they all just can’t believe that could be Jeremy…they just don’t, he doesn’t drink alcohol he doesn’t swear.”

The couple had been together about 10 years they split up a few months ago. People we talked to say Gough never showed any sign of being angry or bitter about the breakup. Scanlon’s body was discovered by a friend inside her home after school on February 23rd, 3 weeks later, Jeremy Gough was charged with Jessica’s murder.
