With Hamilton still buzzing from the past 2 weeks of Pan Am action, the deadline to bid to host the 2024 summer Olympic games is approaching quickly.

Toronto would join Rome, Paris, Budapest and Hamburg in the race for the 2024 games. Toronto Mayor John Tory doesn’t want to rush the decision, but the submission is due September 15th.

The Summer Olympics have not been staged in North America since Atlanta in 1996 and not in Canada since Montreal in 1976. The pricetag to apply is around $50 million.

Today in Boston, the US Olympic committee quit the race to bring the 2024 games to Boston. This after Boston’s mayor refused to sign a document that he says threatens tax payer dollars.

John Tory says you can expect his announcement mid August, once the Para-Pan Am games have wrapped.
