People gathered for a good cause at McMaster University Sunday morning.

The 16th annual colorectal cancer awareness run took place Sunday.

The race is a Wellwood fundraiser with an important goal to raise awareness.

The executive director of Wellwood, Jane George, says the event is a way of helping people understand how to prevent colorectal cancer by identifying it early so that it can be treated.

Wellwood is a cancer support centre in Hamilton that offers a wide range of supportive care programs for anyone living with cancer.

George says everything that they offer is free of charge.
