The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Thursday that they have re-signed national free agent receiver Andy Fantuz.

The Chatham native has appeared in 128 CFL games with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Tiger-Cats.

Fantuz has had 42 receptions for 432 yards and 2 touchdowns in 9 games last season. He also started Hamilton’s two playoff games, registering 8 catches for 88 yards.

“Andy is one of our captains, team leaders and an important part of the winning culture in our locker room here in Hamilton,” Kent Austin, Hamilton’s vice-president of football operations, general manager and head coach, said in a statement. “Continuity is important, and what he brings to our offence in terms of his consistent production, experience and knowledge of our system is invaluable.”

Fantuz has played in five Grey Cup games, winning in ’07 with Saskatchewan. He was named the CFL’s top Canadian in 2010.
