Australian journalist Peter Greste was released from an Egyptian prison on Sunday.

Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohammed remain behind bars.

The three men were arrested in December 2013 while working for Al Jazeera English.

They were sentenced seven to 10 years on charges including spreading lies to help the Muslim brotherhood, who had been declared a terrorist group in Egypt.

On Sunday Fahmy’s fiancee said his deportation is in its final stages and that she remains hopeful.

Canada’s foreign affairs minister, John Baird, raised the case with his Egyptian counterpart last week.

Baird said he will continue to work with Egypt’s consulate for Fahmy’s release.
