Police investigating child abductions

First Published:

Hamilton Police say they are investigating two other incidents that may involve the same woman who attempted to abduct a child near Jackson Square yesterday.

The parents of a 4 year old little girl are brought to tears, coming back to the spot where their child was nearly kidnapped.

It happened on King Street East, near Summers Lane. This woman was walking out of Jackson Square, her daughter was on a scooter just a few feet ahead. when she says a young woman picked up her daughter and started to run towards James Street.

Nineteen year old Angel Charbonneau has been charged with attempted abduction.

The mother of the child says she struggled with Charbonneau to get her daughter out of the woman’s arms.

Charbonneau remained at the scene where she was arrested. She appeared in court this morning and remains in custody.

Employees at The Works saw the frantic mother, distraught over the incident.

Police say Charbonneau may have been involved in another incident earlier yesterday morning at King and James.

Police believe Charbonneau may have been involved in another incident here on Wilson street near the medical centre. The only details they provided was that it involved another small child.

The mother of the child who was grabbed yesterday says she doesn’t know Charbonneau, but has seen her around. and says Charbonneau was at her children’s bus stop on Monday, talking to her son.

Police say the motive behind the incident is not clear and wouldn’t say if Charbonneau suffers from mental illness.
