Priest killed in Motorcycle crash

First Published:

A local priest known for his adventurous ways was killed on Monday when his motorcycle was involved in a crash in Wainfleet.

Robert Fead was with the Diocese of Niagara and a Priest at St. Jude’s Anglican Church in Oakville. ‘Canon’ Rob as he was called by his parishioners, will be remembered by most people for presiding over Cpl. Nathan Cirillo’s funeral in 2014.

“That was a moment of deep mourning and grief for the whole nation, very true to form Rob stepped forward and offered us all an incredibly ministry of hope and peace in a difficult time.” Bishop Michael Bird.

Fead was killed on Monday while riding his motorcycle in Wainfleet. Police say the crash involved a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Canon Rob was adventurous. The first date with his wife, Veronica involved sky diving and he was part of the Golden Horseshoe riding club.

“It’s part of what made him the Priest he was, he was full of life and could relate to a wide variety of people in so many ways.”

For the last 13 years Rob Fead was a Brigade Chaplain for the Canadian Armed Forces. He took great pride in that work. He wrote recently in a bio that he was also an avid sports fan, saying that he hasn’t celebrated any championships recently with Toronto area teams, but he still had faith.
