American Intelligence officials say Russia is trying to interfere in the US midterm elections to be held this November.
This comes shortly after Donald Trump refused to confront Russian President Vladimir Putin over election meddling, and told reporters Russia was no longer targeting US elections.
Today, a White House briefing included the Directors of National Intelligence and the FBI and the Secretary of Homeland Security. They say Russia has been using social media, bots, even actors to try to undermine the US democratic process.
Despite questions the President raised about his own intelligence services recently, his advisers say he is committed to their efforts to curb interference.
The Director of National Intelligence said Russians have been hacking and stealing information from both candidates and government sources.
