Toddler in critical condition following crash on Hwy. 401

Ontario Provincial Police say a toddler is in critical condition following a crash on Highway 401 Monday.

The three-vehicle collision happened on the eastbound collector lanes of the highway near Leslie St. around 4 a.m.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says among the vehicles in the crash was a car with five occupants inside – including three children.

A 17-month-old child was taken to trauma centre and is currently in critical condition.

Schmidt says no other injuries seems to be life-threatening at this time.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for the investigation but re-opened around 6 a.m.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.

No charges have been laid.
