Second hit and run at Lime Ridge Mall

First Published:

An update now on the hit and run at Lime Ridge Mall we first told you about on Tuesday.

The search continues for the driver who knocked a woman down at a crosswalk. Tonight a first-hand account from the woman who was left lying on the ground.

“He looked at me and he ran me over.”

Shortly after noon on Tuesday, Shawna Wedge and her friend, who’s 35-weeks pregnant, were making their way through a crosswalk at Lime Ridge mall when a car kept inching closer to them.

“I kind of smiled and motioned to her like honestly, she’s pregnant. Before I knew it I was up over the car and on the ground within seconds.”

She says the driver took off, without stopping to see if they were okay.

“I don’t even want to use the word human, because you don’t think that a human would leave somebody, an animal, a person, anybody on the ground.”

Along with bruising to her jaw and left side, Shawna says she has soreness to her back, hips and buttocks. Her pregnant friend who we spoke to the day of the hit and run is ok.

Police are looking for a silver or white vehicle, possibly a smaller Toyota. The driver is facing a charge of failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

This was the second hit and run at Lime Ridge this week. The first one claimed the life of a 71-year-old man.
