Man dead after being hit in the Lime Ridge parking lot

A 71 year old man has died after being struck by a vehicle in the CF Lime Ridge Mall parking lot Monday afternoon.

Around 4:30 pm a vehicle was seen travelling through the parking lot near the Hudson’s Bay entrance when it hit the pedestrian. The driver failed to remain at the scene.

The 71 year old male was rushed to hospital, where he died of his injuries overnight. His name is not being released until next of kin is notified.

With the help of witnesses, police located the vehicle a short distance away and arrested 49 year old Jason Fairs from Hamilton.

He has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and fail to remain at the scene.

Police are appealing to witnesses that can help with the investigation and ask if anyone has any video footage to please come forward.
