Former Premier Kathleen Wynne says goodbye

Outgoing Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is taking a break from social media during the transition to the new government.

But Wynne sent out a heartfelt goodbye to her Twitter followers before going offline.

In it, she said being premier had been the greatest privilege of her life and would continue working to build the province up.

Wynne resigned as Ontario Liberal leader last week, after the party was reduced to just seven seats in the provincial legislature.

John Fraser, an Ottawa-area legislator, was voted in as interim leader on Thursday.

Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives were elected with a decisive majority government in the election which saw voter turnout at 58 per cent.

Ford will take power on June 29.
