UPDATE:

Hamilton police are investigating after human remains were found in two separate locations in the city.

Police say the body of a 39-year-old man was discovered off the rail trail near the Chedoke Stairs around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Police announced Friday they have identified the man. “His family has been notified. After investigating, police consider his death non-suspicious. ,” said Hamilton police in a news release.

In a separate incident, human remains were discovered near the shore in the area of Millen Rd. in Stoney Creek. A man told CHCH News that around 2 pm on Tuesday, while walking his dog, he found a dress shoe and when he picked up the shoe and looked inside the sock he found a severed foot.

In a news release issued Thursday, police said they were conducting a ground search of the area.

While police don’t believe foul play was involved, they did say the remains will be investigated by a forensic anthropologist on Monday and they’ll provide updates after that.

Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact Hamilton police.
