A 10 pound WIFI plate was dangling from a light post at Tim Hortons Field Tuesday night, swinging above the stands and over a sidewalk on Balasm ave. Officials say the weekend storm is to blame.
There are 12 of these WIFI panels on the light standards on that side, they are protected by a fail safe and a harrness.
The manager of Tim Hortons Field says the bolt keeping the panel in place broke off because of rough weather on the weekend.
“We are an outdoor stadium so we constantly have high winds, we are going to bring a contractor in to make sure that the harnesses and the fail safes of the remaining WIFI panels are secure.”
Tim Hortons Field was built for the 2015 Pan Am games. There have been many problems along the way and the stadium still isn’t officially complete. Both the manager of the stadium and councillor Llyod Ferguson say there are deficiencies such as leaks that are still being fixed.
