Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are asking for charity donations in lieu of wedding gifts.

A statement from Kensington Palace says the couple is asking anyone planning to send a gift to mark their upcoming wedding to consider giving to charity.

The pair have selected seven charities that touch on some of the issues they feel passionate about.

  • The Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA)
  • Crisis – the national charity for homeless people
  • Scotty’s Little Soldiers – the charity for bereaved Armed Forces children
  • StreetGames -uses sport to help people and communities become healthier and safer
  • Surfers Against Sewage – national marine conservation and campaigning charity
  • The Wilderness Foundation UK – promotes the benefits and enjoyment of wild nature
  • Myna Mahila Foundation – empowers women in Mumbai’s urban slums
