Four McMaster University students charged for street racing

First Published:

Four students from McMaster University have had their vehicles impounded after they were allegedly caught street racing in Burlington.

Halton police say an officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of Old York Rd. and Snake Rd. when he heard the sounds of loud, revving engines around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The officer saw four vehicles coming towards him at a high rate of speed and all within close proximity to each other.

The vehicles were allegedly clocked going between 105 and 110 kilometres per hour in a posted 50 kilometre zone.

The officer managed to stop all four drivers, aged 18 to 20 years old, and charge them with stunt driving. They all had their licenses suspended for seven days.

Police also seized a 2017 Ford Focus, 2017 Porsche Macan SUV, 2017 BMW 440i and a 2016 BMW 435i for seven days.

The drivers are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
