Flood watch

First Published:

Heavy rain and mild temperatures have prompted flood warnings across Southern Ontario and with more rain the forecast, the situation could get worse before it gets better.

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation authority is warning people in Hamilton, Haldimand, West Lincoln and Wainfleet to monitor water levels and expect flooding in low-lying areas. A similar warning coming from the Grand River conservation authority, where a flood warning is in place for the entire Grand River watershed.

Conservation authorities are warning people to stay away from riverbanks and streams during the flood warnings, as they can create slippery and hazardous conditions. Along with a reminder to keep children and pets off of the ice.
