Missing 73 year old woman found safe, 4 days later

First Published:

It may be a happy ending, but there are still a lot of questions about a 73 year old woman who was missing for four days.

What started out as a quick drive to pick up cupcake mix for her grand kids on Thursday, became a desperate search for 73-year old Carole Berry by the weekend.

Carole was eventually found behind a Food Basics in Georgetown, about a 40 minute drive from her Brampton home. Family say they looked everywhere from Scarborough to Burlington, they’re still wondering why she would be in a place that was so unfamiliar to her. Other than an injured knee, Carole had no other signs of external trauma.

“The hospital here is trying to do workup on her because there is some signs of physical problems with her brain, perhaps a stroke, perhaps a seizure we don’t know.” Susan Berry, daughter.

Detectives believe that Carole may have been in and around her car in that parking lot for days before being found by Braeden Murray, a young man who found her while taking a break from his shift at the grocery store.

“Doctors were amazed how she survived that incident three days without drinking and food in the cold in her car on the ground she really rallied around the fact that she was strong.”

But her family isn’t focusing on how she survived, they’re just glad that she’s been found. The mother of two and grandmother of five is expected to be at the Georgetown hospital to quite some time, but when she’s released, there’s a 55-year wedding anniversary party waiting for her.
