Firefighters find body in Georgetown house

Halton Regional Police are investigating after a man’s body was found following a house fire in Georgetown.

Neighbours called 911 around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, after smoke was seen billowing out of the home on Raylawn Cres., near Guelph St. and Mountainview Rd.

Firefighters from Halton Hills discovered the body in the basement while searching the house.

Police say the man has not yet been identified and his cause of death is not known.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in.
