Gunfire erupted on Hwy. 401 near Mississauga early this morning. Ontario Provincial Police believe two cars were involved in the incident, but one fled the scene.
At approximately 4 a.m. A car carrying five men crashed into the concrete wall of the 401 eastbound near Winston Churchill Blvd. in Mississuaga.
When the OPP arrived they discovered that the car had been shot up by bullets.
The OPP say the men in the car called police and are being questioned.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says the vehicle that fled the scene could be red in colour, with heavy damage on the front bumper and a flat tire.
Despite shots being fired and a rollover, the men in the vehicle walked away with only a few cuts and scrapes.
It is unknown if the cars crashed into each other.
The eastbound lanes of the 401 near Winston Churchill Blvd. where closed for nearly 12 hours as police collected evidence and mapped out the area with drones.
The westbound lanes were stopped briefly as well. All lanes reopened at 3:45 p.m..
No arrests have been made at this time.
The OPP say its too early to determine a motive. Police will be searching the nearby industrial area for surveillance video to help with the investigation.
