Hamilton Police have charged another person with stunt driving in the city.

Police say on Jan. 5, a 2015 black Chevrolet Camaro was seen speeding on Golf Club Rd. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed at the intersection of Highway 56.

The driver was taken to hospital for a medical assessment and was released a short time later.

The investigation found the vehicle was travelling 175km/h, close to three times the posted speed limit of 60km/h.

A 17-year-old man from Glanbrook, who holds a G2 licence, faces several charges including stunt driving, speeding and careless driving.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 7.

This is the latest in a slew of people charged with stunt driving by Hamilton Police in the past few weeks.

Last month, a Hamilton man was charged after being clocked travelling 165km/h on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

The immediate penalties for stunt driving include vehicle seizure for seven days and the suspension of the driver’s licence for seven days.

Additional penalties upon conviction can include a fine of up to $10,000, seven demerit points and a dramatic increase in insurance rates.
