A 34-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed and a four-month-old baby girl was seriously injured in Etobicoke.

Officers were called to a building near the Sherway Gardens mall around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the man and woman were having an argument in an apartment and the woman made threats while holding a knife.

They allege she injured the man and a baby. The man fled the apartment with the child to seek help.

When officers arrived, they found the baby girl suffering from serious injuries. She was rushed to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto where she remains in critical condition.

The man was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In addition to the attempted murder charge, the woman is also facing two counts of utter death threats, assault cause bodily harm and assault with a weapon.

She is scheduled to appear in court at College Park in Toronto at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The relationship between the three people is not yet known.
