Woman shot and killed in east Hamilton

First Published:

Update: Hamilton police have identified the female victim as Nicole Dragasic, 37 of Hamilton.

Dragasic had been living in a basement apartment on the corner of Lottridge and Barton. She’d only been living there since the beginning of the month, with her boyfriend and another person when she answered the door in the middle of the night and was fatally shot.

Police say they arrived to find a woman with gunshot wounds, she was rushed to hospital but could not be revived. Detective Sgt Peter Thom says the victim was known to police and the people with her when she was shot are cooperating.

“It was a targeted attack. We’re fairly confident about that. Two males approached the apt and there was an interaction at the threshold to the premises. After the incident two males were seen leaving. There may have been a third person, we’re not sure if he was involved or a witness to the incident.” Det. Sgt Peter Thom, Hamilton Police.

Police have been canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and looking for surveillance camera footage, but so far have not made any arrests. The only description of the suspects is two men in dark clothing, one of them slightly taller than the other.
