Commuters heading to downtown Toronto this morning were treated to a scene you would see in an action movie. Except it was very real.

A man led police from Toronto to Orillia on a 110km car chase following an alleged crime spree.

The drama first started in the west end of Toronto around 2 am when the man, now identified as 32 year old Kristian Jarvis, allegedly shot at his brother.

Around dawn, police say Jarvis attempted to steal several cars and eventually shot a 50 year old female driver as he stole her silver Honda Civic.

Once authorities arrived, police say Jarvis opened fire and sped off towards the Highway 400 at extremely high speeds. Police say Jarvis even opened fire while on the highway.

Police deployed a spike belt but Jarvis was able to drive around it, leading one OPP cruiser into a collision.

Jarvis was eventually arrested off the Highway in Orillia.

No officers or civilians were hurt in the car chase. Police say the woman injured in the car jacking, is in hospital in serious condition.

Police also say they are also looking for a second man, but his connection to the incidents remains unclear.

According to Toronto Inspector Greenaway, Jarvis was known to police.

The charges against him are still being determined.
