An 85-year-old man is in hospital with life threatening injuries after his car was struck by a transport truck in Oakville Tuesday.

The passenger side of the Silver Toyota was completely mangled after it was t-boned by a commercial transport truck. It happened while the car was turning left onto Leighland avenue from Trafalger road at around 10:15 am. Firefighters pulled the driver from the vehicle and he was taken to hospital. Thankfully no one was in the passenger seat.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash but say speed and alcohol are not likely factors. They will be looking at footage from a red light camera to determine what stage the light was in when the truck went trough the intersection southbound on Trafalger.
