Motorcycle crash leads to arrest of wanted man in Hamilton

First Published:

A man wanted by police has been arrested after a motorcycle crash in Hamilton.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday, police received reports that a damaged motorcycle was found abandoned at King William St. and Victoria Ave. North.

Broken pieces of a helmet were found and it appeared the motorcycle had been in a collision.

Police say they were told that a man, believed to be the driver, had left the area in a taxi.

Officers tracked down the taxi and the man in Dundas and discovered he was a prohibited driver and wanted on several unrelated criminal offences.

The man was arrested in relation to those warrants and is suspected of being the driver of the motorcycle. Police say the man complained of minor injuries and has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the collision and say the motorcycle may have been stolen.

The road between King William St. and East Ave. North and a portion of Victoria Ave. North were closed for a few hours but all lanes have since been reopened.
