A nightmare for the owner of Cooper, a one and a half year old golden Labradoodle, came to a welcome end this morning with the dog found safe and sound near Hamilton Airport.     A trap laden with treats did the trick.

Cooper was supposed to have been flown to Deer Lake, Newfoundland but instead Westjet flew him to Hamilton.  How the mix-up occurred is still unclear  but how he escaped is not a mystery .

“They took him out of his kennel to relieve him and he got away, off his leash.” Terri Pittman, Copper’s owner.

WestJet flew Terri to Hamilton from Newfoundland early Thursday after they told her Cooper was lost and she had been searching ever since.

WestJet apologized for the error and says it deployed its own staff in the ground search.
