A 21-year-old woman has been found safe after a possible abduction in Stoney Creek.

Hamilton police say they received reports that a group of men, believed to be in their twenties, was causing a disturbance and assaulted a male employee inside the Stoney Creek Motel on Highway 8.

Police were told a woman appeared to be taken against her will by the group of men in a black Dodge Journey.

Police attempted to pull over the vehicle as it traveled eastbound on the QEW towards Fifty Rd. in Stoney Creek but the vehicle fled.

It was later located by police and the woman was found safe inside.

A 20-year-old man from Hamilton has been arrested and charged with flight from police and drive disqualified. Police say additional charges may be laid.

Investigators say it is not yet known if the woman went with the men by force or on her own accord.

The male employee that was assaulted was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and is expected to recover.

Detectives are currently investigating and are asking anyone who may have information to contact the Hamilton police.
