Donald Trump has taken the oath and officially become the next U.S. president during the inauguration ceremony in Washington today.

Trump and his wife Melania, the First Lady, started the day at 8:30 this morning with a church service. From there they were welcomed to the White House with a coffee and tea reception, hosted by former president Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle.

Then they headed to the U.S. Capitol, where Senator Roy Blunt, the inaugural committee chairman delivered the opening remarks.

Trump was officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States at noon.

During the inaugural address Trump told the people “from this day forward a new vision will govern our land.  From this day forward it will be America first.”  “I will fight for you with every breath in my body and I will never, ever, let you down.” “This moment is your moment. It belongs to you.”

President Trump closed his speech saying “you will never be ignored again.  Your voice, your hopes and your dreams will define our American destiny.” “We will make America great again.”
