The controversial Dakota Access Pipeline has been halted by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
The Corp says it will not grant an easement allowing for the pipeline under a lake in southern North Dakota that’s been the site of protests for months by native groups.
The U.S. government has ordered protesters to leave the main encampment, which is on Army Corps of Engineers land, by today, but demonstrators say they’re prepared to stay, and federal, state and local authorities say they won’t forcibly remove them.
