Joyriding Hamilton teen arrested, passengers injured

A night of joyriding in Hamilton’s east-end led to a teenager being charged and several others hurt.

Police were called shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning to the Centre Mall in the area of Barton Street East and Ottawa Street North. Officers  found a slammed into the corner of the Canadian Tire building.

There was extensive damage to the car and only minor damage to the building.
Police say six teens were in the car at the time of the crash, four were taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police arrested and charged one teen with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. He appeared in court earlier today.

The teens can not be identified because they are under the age of 18.
