Kent Austin banned from sidelines

First Published:

Hamilton Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin has been banned from the sidelines by the CFL for making contact with an official during last Saturday’s loss in Regina.

Austin will be barred from the sidelines for the home game against Calgary this Saturday. He’s also been fined $10 000.

The club released this statement regarding the incident “although we feel the punishment is unprecedented and harsh, we accept the league’s ruling on the matter and move forward as we continue to prepare for this weekend’s game.”

This is the first time in CFL history that a coach has been prevented from being with his team on the sideline for a game and the fine is also believed to be the largest slapped against a coach in league history.
