Christmas in August

Looking around Eastgate Square you would think it’s December. That’s because they’re helping us launch the CHCH Christmas Toy Drive this year with a special Christmas movie, a visit from Santa himself and all kinds of Christmas fun. You may think we’re jumping the gun a little bit on this one but we aren’t the only ones with the early holiday spirit.

Life sized snowmen, Christmas trees and all the wrapping supplies you could need are already being sold at Costco… right in front of the Halloween decorations.

While it seems like Costco is the first major retailer to roll out the holiday supplies, there’s one place in Niagara-on-the-Lake that celebrates Christmas all year long, and on this hot summer day its packed with shoppers.

Staff at Just Christmas say summer is their second busiest time of year. They say this year they’ve been extra busy and say that popular characters, TV shows and movies are driving up sales.

So even though we are just nearing the end of August, the holiday season will be here before we know it.
