A hospital in Syria that’s run by an Oakville based medical relief organization was bombed Friday.

The Al Marjeh Primary Health Care Centre has been destroyed, this is the second airstrike on a hospital in the war-torn country within in the last three days.

Nicole Martin sat down in an exclusive interview with the Head of the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations Canada.

Dr Anas Al Kassem is a surgeon who helped launch the clinic in Aleppo and provided some photos of what the health care centre looked like.

Dr. Al Kassem says they believe the bombing was carried out by the Syrian regime and Russians.

He believes a number of Syrian refugees who fled the country to Turkey have returned and he believes the airstrikes are to drive them back out again.

Supplies, medical equipment and a dental office attached to the building has turned to rubble.

As far as they know there have been no casualties in the building or the area.

The clinic costs 30 to 40 thousand dollars on a monthly basis. There was millions of dollars worth of equipment.

The Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations also known as UOSSM is also calling on the Canadian Government to provide better protection for their health care physicians on the ground and those providing the equipment necessary to help Syrians during this crisis.

In the meantime, they will have to find another place to relocate.
