The city of Hamilton is looking for someone to take responsibility for the numerous and costly delays for the construction of Tim Hortons Field.
City officials have filed notice of a pending court claim over the delay of the stadium that cost $145 million to complete. The notice of action is claiming $35 million in damages against stadium contractor Ontario Sports Solutions, Infrastructure Ontario and the organizing committee of the Pan Am Games.
In addition the city’s claim includes $14 million on behalf of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats who are the chief tenant of the facility, and had a lease agreement that requires the city to seek compensation on behalf of the team for missed games due to construction delays.
