Arrests made in Neil Harris murder investigation

Police have also arrested 26 -year old Tyrone Abrahams.  He will appear at the John Sopinka Court House today.  He is being charged with two counts accessory after the fact to murder, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, four count of possessing a firearm while prohibited and four counts of failing to comply with probation.

Police announced today the arrests of two men in the murder of Neil Harris, who was gunned down inside his Hamilton mountain barbershop in February.  25 year old Erick Reid of Toronto and 23 year old Odain Gardner, of Hamilton appeared at the John Sopinka Court house this morning on charges of first degree murder.

Reid was arrested in Calgary on Friday and brought back to Hamilton yesterday.  Odain Gardner had previously been arrested in connection with two other shootings in Hamilton.  The first one when he was 19 years old, Michael Swistak was gunned down in the playground of Cathy Weaver Elementary in 2012, Gardner was charged with possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of tracking and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm. No one has ever been charged for Swistak’s murder.  Gardner was also arrested in 2014 following a shooting on Tisdale Avenue north which wounded a man. He was charged with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm.

Bail hearings will be held for Reid and Gardner by video on August 3rd. They were ordered not to contact a list of over 15 witnesses in the case.
