It was a special night at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.

Marcus Cirillo, son of Corporal Nathan Cirillo dropped the ceremonial faceoff as the Hamilton Bulldogs honoured Corporal Cirillo and all those in the Canadian Armed Forces before their game against the Toronto Marlies. Corporal Cirillo’s father and sister were also there. Members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada took to the ice before the game, and said they were honoured to be a part of this.

Scott Ballinson, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada: “The events of last October as I’m sure everyone is aware of, is very, very difficult for the members of the regiment obviously, the Cirillo family, and we saw the outpouring of support not only within residents of Hamilton, our country, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and other emergency services. So it’s a real honour and a privilege that the Bulldogs support the Canadian Armed Forces.

Cirillo was killed during the October 22nd attack on Parliament Hill. He was guarding the National War Memorial when he was shot by a gunman who was later killed inside parliament.
