$144K ‘Smack’-down at HI

First Published:

Border guards have seized more than $140,000 worth of heroin at Hamilton International Airport.

They found 380 grams of smack in a shipment of paper and nylon lamp shades. The drugs were hidden in the frame of the shades, stuck between wooden strips that had been glued together. The package came off a plane from India.

The discovery was made last Tuesday (Aug 10,) but the Canada Border Services Agency didn’t announce it until Monday (Aug 16.)

RCMP don’t know yet where the package was headed or who it belonged to.
