Hamilton artist to have her work displayed at the Louvre

First Published:

Patricia Gagic has been an artist for as long as she can remember. The 65 year old is an abstract contemporary artist.

“As an artist I’ve been doing this since I was out of the womb, drawing at 3, painting for the last 40 years.”

An art dealer in France saw some of her paintings online and asked if she’d put together a portfolio to be juried by a committee in Paris that decides which works of art will be displayed at the “Carousel de Louvre” in Paris.

She did, but it was one picture she took that caught their attention and it will now be displayed at the Louvre in December.

“The piece going in is called The Path, a black and white photograph of a person walking through a foggy piece of land where we took the photo.”

That land was in Ancaster and the picture is one of about three hundred she took in only a couple of minutes.

Patricia has had her art displayed in galleries around the world, but she says making it to the Louvre is special.

She’ll be going to Paris to install The Path in December where it’ll be on display from the 13th to the 15th. There will be 9 other Canadian artists being featured as well.

You can get a sneak peak of the picture Saturday night at Artworld Fine Art in Etobicoke at 7 pm.
